Inspired by the cycles of nature and the symbolic representations that echo over to our human endeavors, Leyva establishes a straightforward metaphoric extrapolation where trees, clouds, nests, cages, insects, birds, etc, are the messengers. With a geometrical background, Leyva establishes a spatial framework for the repetition of the elements he utilizes as symbols for his metaphors, and so developing a timeline in the two dimensional space of his canvas.

His paintings invite the viewer to peer into a secret world, where one may encounter a deeper relationship and responsibility toward nature and reflects on the time we spend in this world.  In Through the Trees, Leyva continues his journey of an expanded awareness and utilizes fictional text and grided imagery to invite the viewer into his time honored dreamscapes.

Jorge Leyva work is included in numerous corporate and private collections including the Daum Musuem of Contemporary Art, Birger Sandzen and the Spiva Center for the Arts. He currently resides in the Ozark mountains where the rivers and landscape continue to feed his love of nature and artistic expression.
