The Painted Violin Project is Santa Fe Youth Symphony Association's latest fundraising initiative to support students and programs, including providing instruments, sliding scale tuition and financial assistance, and increasing community access across socioeconomic and cultural divides.
Local, regional, and nationally renowned artists donated their time and talents to create original works of art using retired, unplayable viollins as their canvas. Each violin represents the artist's uniquely distinct style.
These violins will be on display from March 4 until March 14, and sold in silent auction at the Music for Everyone Concert Reception at Manitou Palace Ave Gallery on Thrusday, March 14.
Music for Everyone is SFYSA's annual showcase featuring student musicians from the Jazz, Mariachi, Orchestra and Con Vivo programs, with local artists Nacha Mendez and Jono Manson. To commemorate SFYSA's 25th season, this year's showcase theme is "Silverscreen" featuring scores from blockbuster hits from the past 25 years, including Harry Potter, Mission Impossible, and Jurrassic Park.
