John Tarahteeff: lands end

26 June - 12 July 2015

John Tarahteeff’s latest exhibition is titled Lands End. The setting in a  liminal place where the land and sea meet, serve as a trope to depict an atmosphere of transition from one state of being to another. The artist like Odysseus, is on a journey of self-discovery embracing a new adventure and landing in expansive visual worlds.   The tonal quality of Tarahteeff’s paintings set a mood, wrapped in suspense where his figures interact and the viewer observes.  Narrative collapses into classical scenes that are layered with meanings.

John Tarahteeff, American, born 1972 was raised in Santa Clara, California. He graduated from the University of California, Davis with a B.S. in Landscape Architecture and a minor in Fine Art. His work has been included in numerous exhibitions throughout his career and also, the subject of articles in varied art publications.
