(SANTA FE, NM)  Nüart Gallery presents, “Cyclical Nature" a solo exhibition of new work by Kevin Tolman. The exhibition will run August 24th through September 9th 2018, with an opening reception on Friday, August 24th from 5:00 - 7:00 pmThe artist will be in attendance.

Poetic and earthy, Kevin Tolman’s mixed-media paintings are both lively and refined. Incorporating a variety of media including acrylic paint, pencil, caran d’ache, and collage, Tolman creates abstract works evocative of the natural world and grounded in a strong sense of place.

The exhibition, “Cyclical Nature,” consists of a new body of Kevin Tolman’s mixed-media paintings. Starting with sophisticated organic color fields, the artist activates his paintings with hoops, dashes, exes, loops, and specks. Tolman works improvisationally, riffing with his materials, the season, and his environment. The final composition unfolds out of the process and the deft skill earned from decades of practice. The work also arises from his connection to and observation of nature, which is at the core of Tolman’s work.

Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Kevin Tolman now lives and works in New Mexico. Tolman’s work is exhibited in galleries, museums, and universities across the United States where his paintings are included in a large number of private, corporate, and public collections.  His work has also been exhibited internationally in Canada, Mexico, Germany, France, England, and in Portugal.
