Carol Mothner: Tenacity

7 - 23 September 2018
Carol Mothner is renowned painter of exquisite works that detail the ethereal qualities of her subjects. Using tiny brushes she meticulously works her fluid acrylic and egg tempera on panel to articulate the character of the painting. Her work is at once intimate and open.

In this exhibition, she explores interwoven themes of perseverance, resilience, and rebirth through her delicate flowers and her armored Madonnas. Hinting to the turbid atmosphere of today’s public discourse, Mothner reminds us that under the protective armor, or in the seemingly barren earth, lies the eternal feminine energy ready to soothe, renew, and give meaning to a tangled moment in time.

Carol Mothner was born in New York and has participated in numerous solo and group shows. She is a graduate of the School of Visual Arts in New York and has painted professionally for five decades. She currently resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
