(SANTA FE, NM) — Nüart Gallery is pleased to present a dual exhibition, Nuance, featuring new works by Erin Cone and Connie Goldman, on view from November 14th through November 23rd, 2025. The exhibition will open with a reception on Friday, November 14th, from 5:00–7:00 PM.
Erin Cone’s latest body of work seeks to slow the viewer’s gaze—to invite an encounter that goes beyond surface beauty and toward emotional subtlety. Each painting is a meditation on presence: the tension between intimacy and distance, between stillness and transformation. Cone works with pose and composition to reveal the soft gradations of emotion that resist easy definition—those fleeting expressions and gestures that convey what words cannot. Presenting her subjects through a lens of anonymity, Cone seeks to embody universal moments of contemplation, feeling, and self-possession. Using her own unique blend of realism with subtle abstraction, she balances color, line, and deliberate orchestration of forms to explore the depth of the inner world. Nuance ultimately asks the viewer to look longer and feel deeper, to recognize the quiet power in subtleties that often go unseen.
Connie Goldman’s work inhabits the space between painting and sculpture, where geometry, color, and shadow engage in a subtle dialogue. Her shaped panels transform reductive forms into dynamic compositions that shift with natural light and perspective. Each piece is carefully constructed yet open to intuitive change, allowing harmony and visual cadence to emerge through process and perception. Goldman’s use of color is deeply tied to the dynamics of relationship and movement. Hues shift and interact like tidal forces, expressing tension, gravity, and flow within the geometry of each form. As daylight moves across her surfaces, shadows become an active part of the composition—altering tone and meaning throughout the day. Through this interplay of light and structure, Goldman’s abstractions invite thoughtful contemplation. What first appears restrained gradually reveals complexity, as the shifting geometry and color fields encourage viewers to linger and discover new relationships within each work.
